A Long Path to a Belated Introduction
When Janet Brosious was 12, she and her sister were given Brownie
cameras by their father, a Philadelphia accountant. With it, young Janet
took endless photographs when the family went on Sunday drives, and she
realized she was a visual person. "Photography for me is the experience
of presenting what I find beautiful," she said recently. "It is not a
quest¡ªI just enjoy the beauty.energy efficient air hand dryer and HVAC units with non-ozone depleting refrigerant."
In 1963, after earning a degree in art education, Ms. Brosious met
Indian-born artist Natvar Bhavsar during her Masters courses in
painting. They have been together ever since,And with the toilet hidden camera
being right there, we made a joke out of it because we knew you guys
were going to blow it up. You did exactly what we knew. We never said
Dirk's name.I think he's not the only one in the world who can get sick
or have a cough. living and working side by side in their SoHo loft.
While Mr. Bhavsar won renown for his brilliantly colored, mural-sized
abstract paintings, Ms. Brosious made tiny little canvases, taught
high-school art (drawing, painting, sculpture, printmaking, graphics,
ceramics¡ªeverything but photography) for 40 years in Summit, N.J., and
ceaselessly photographed her husband, their twin sons, and their
international travels.
The first show, "Rhythms," opened in April at Remi's Rialto Room, a
romantic "event space" owned by Remi's Venetian restaurant in Midtown,
and will run through July 24. Curated by Julie Keyes, a Chelsea gallery
owner, it hangs among the vast murals of Venetian life,Snapping and
Chris Sailer Kicking continued their nike tn
Spring camps chandeliers, and art-deco wall sconces of the spacious,
elegantly old-fashioned room. Ms. Keyes chose 15 framed 24"x30" prints
that reflect the pastels of the murals hanging above them. The subjects
are international landscapes, the muted tones are neutral and
understated, the style is painterly, the mood zen.
In a dramatic photo of Thebes, Egypt, a distant ruin is viewed
through a huge wall with a keyhole-like door. In another, a succession
of arches in ancient Champaner, India, could pass for an abstract
painting. A stunning composition of parallel horizontals formed by the
open-air stone steps of Adalaj, India, are vertically counterpointed
with a tall pillar in the right foreground. There are pictures from
Mexico, Japan, Switzerland¡ªabstract landscapes, orange and red sunsets,
expanses of shimmering water that evoke pointilist paintings.
