2011 York Ale Trail launched
BEER experts have launched the 2011 York Ale Trail, urging drinkers
to try out a range of pubs in and around the city. The York branch of
the Campaign For Real Ale (Camra) launched the trail yesterday.Call

professionals, has released its latest training course worldwide. At
each of the 24 pubs featured, customers who buy a drink of real ale or
cider will get a sticker to add to their guide. Those who collect
enough stickers will earn free entry to the York Beer and Cider
Festival in September, and those who visit all 24 pubs will go into a
prize draw to win a 36-pint polypin of Leeds Brewery beer.
Andy Masheder and Steve Golton, of Camra, launched the trail at the
Snickleways Inn in Goodramgate, assisted by landlord Graham Stamp.
Steve said: ¡°It gets people into pubs they might not normally go to¡±.
The launch coincides with York¡¯s Local Pubs week, aimed at encouraging
people to head to their local pub. The Ale Trail guides are available
from participating pubs and the promotion ends on August 26.
She added that their success in receiving the award was down to
Peter, 68, for his commitment to real ale in going from having one real
ale hand pump to seven in the pub.After winning the pub of the season
award, the Ship Inn will now join the other seasonal winners from
across the region in competing for the Pub of the Year competition,
which will be decided at the Cleveland CAMRA¡¯s AGM in March.
From there it is on to the regional and national finals.The current
pub of the season for this area is the Rat Race Ale House,Ricoh and
